PARADISE

There are numerous beaches and islands to explore within just a 30-minute boat trip from Rokers Point. Guests will be able to take a private boat directly from the resort to these local attractions building lasting memories around this idyllic island. It is also possible to charter a seaplane to explore the Exuma Islands. Seabird Air or TIA can take guests high above the waters for breathtaking aerial views, landing at their choice of the cays.

FISHING IN EXUMA

Abaco in the Bahamas is known as the fishing capital of the world, however, Exuma comes a close second with miles of flats teeming with bonefish waters. Full and half-day fishing excursions are a great way to explore the islands whilst being guided to the best reef fishing spots and learning local fishing techniques. You can expect to catch Yellow Tail Snappers, Jacks, Porgy, Barracudas, Nassau Groupers, Needlefish, Triggerfish and even Reef Sharks by the traditional method of tackle, jig and bait. You can also experience encounters with Mahimahi, Wahoo, King Fish, Blue Marlin, Sailfish and Barracuda. Free dive spearfishing excursions are also popular with Hawaiian slings and spears; local guides are available with boats to take you to the best spots.

It is wise to familiarize yourself with the fishing regulations. Some areas such as the Exuma Land and Sea Park are a ‘no take’ zone. You need to have a valid fishing permit and one person can only fish 20 pounds of scale fish, 10 conch and 6 pieces or crawfish in one session. Any other migratory fish must be returned safely to the water. Taking away sea fans, tropical fish and coral are not allowed.
